The Dr.Pen M7 is a professional-grade microneedling pen designed to support skin renewal and overall skin texture improvement. By creating precise micro-channels in the skin, it enhances the absorption of topical serums and promotes a smoother, more even complexion. It is commonly used for improving skin tone, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores, and refreshing dull or uneven skin texture. The M7 is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, cure, or treat any medical condition.
The M7 is a wired, corded microneedling pen positioned between the entry-level A6 and the flagship wireless A11. It features a high-speed motor, adjustable needle depth (0.25–2.5mm), and 6 speed settings, making it a reliable choice for home users who want more performance than the A6 without the premium price of the A11. Unlike the A11, the M7 requires a power cord during use, which some users find limits mobility. If portability and cord-free operation are priorities, the A11 may be a better fit. For users focused on value and consistent at-home performance, the M7 is an excellent choice.
As a general guideline: use 0.25–0.5mm for thin or delicate areas such as the under-eye zone, forehead, and around the lips. Use 0.5–1.0mm for the cheeks, chin, and nose. Use 0.5–1.5mm for the neck and décolletage. The M7 supports depths up to 2.5mm, but settings above 1.5mm are typically reserved for trained professionals only. Always start at the shallowest depth if you are new to microneedling and gradually increase as your skin acclimates. Consult a licensed skincare professional before using depths greater than 1.0mm.
The M7 is compatible with Dr.Pen M7-series replacement cartridges, including 9-Pin, 12-Pin, 24-Pin, 36-Pin, 42-Pin, Nano-R, and Nano-S tip types. The 9-Pin cartridge is unique to the M7 line and is well-suited for targeted work on smaller areas or facial contouring. Nano-R and Nano-S tips are ideal for sensitive skin and superficial serum infusion, while 36-Pin and 42-Pin tips cover larger surface areas for more efficient full-face sessions. Always use genuine Dr.Pen M7 cartridges to ensure proper fit, sterility, and accurate needle depth performance.
For home use at depths of 0.25–0.5mm, the M7 can generally be used once every 1–2 weeks. For moderate depths of 0.5–1.0mm, allow at least 3–4 weeks between sessions to give your skin sufficient recovery time. Overuse can compromise the skin barrier and lead to persistent irritation or sensitivity. If redness or discomfort continues beyond 48 hours after a session, extend your recovery period and consult a skincare professional before your next session.
Sensation varies depending on needle depth, skin sensitivity, and the area being treated. At shallow depths (0.25–0.5mm), most users experience only mild tingling or light pressure. At deeper settings, some discomfort is expected. Applying a topical numbing cream (such as one containing lidocaine) 20–30 minutes before your session can significantly reduce discomfort. Always follow the numbing cream manufacturer's instructions and perform a patch test 24 hours before your first use. Avoid applying numbing cream to broken, irritated, or compromised skin.
Before: Cleanse thoroughly with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. Avoid retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and vitamin C for at least 24–48 hours prior to your session, as these can increase skin sensitivity. After: Apply a hydrating, fragrance-free serum containing hyaluronic acid, peptides, or growth factors immediately after to take advantage of the enhanced absorption window. For the first 24–72 hours post-session, avoid active exfoliants (retinol, acids), alcohol-based toners, and direct sun exposure. Always apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen during the day throughout your recovery period.
The M7 is not suitable for individuals who: have active acne breakouts, open wounds, or inflamed skin in the area to be treated; have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring; are pregnant or breastfeeding; have a blood clotting disorder or are taking blood-thinning medications; have rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis in the intended area; have had radiation therapy to the area within the past year; or have an active skin infection, cold sore outbreak, or contagious skin condition. If you have any underlying medical conditions or are unsure whether microneedling is appropriate for you, please consult a licensed healthcare provider before use.
All Dr.Pen M7 cartridges are single-use and must be discarded immediately after each session — never reuse a cartridge, even on the same person. Reusing needles dulls the tips, significantly increases the risk of infection, and can cause uneven or traumatic skin penetration. Keep each cartridge sealed in its sterile packaging until the moment you attach it to the pen. After your session, carefully detach the used cartridge without touching the needle tips, place it in a puncture-resistant sharps container or a tightly sealed plastic bag, and dispose of it in accordance with your local household sharps disposal guidelines.
Normal post-session reactions include redness, mild swelling, and a warm sensation similar to a mild sunburn — these typically resolve within 24–72 hours. Light skin flaking or dryness in the days following your session is also normal as the skin renews itself. At deeper depth settings, minor pinpoint bleeding is expected and considered normal. You should stop using the device and consult a healthcare professional if you experience: redness or swelling that worsens or persists beyond 72 hours, signs of infection (increasing heat, discharge, or fever), severe or worsening pain, or unusual skin discoloration. Do not pick at any naturally flaking skin during the healing process.
