The Dr.Pen H6 is designed to support skin renewal and rejuvenation. It combines microneedling with LED light therapy to help improve skin texture, minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, reduce uneven skin tone, and promote a smoother, more radiant complexion over time with consistent use.
The H6 stands out with its built-in LED light therapy feature, which other Dr.Pen models do not include. The LED function adds an extra layer of skin support after microneedling. The A8S and M8S are purely microneedling-focused devices with more speed settings and are better suited for those who want deeper customization in needle depth and speed without the LED add-on.
The Dr.Pen H6 features red and blue LED light modes. Red light is commonly used to support skin recovery and promote a healthy-looking complexion, while blue light is often used to target surface-level skin concerns. You can use the LED mode immediately after your microneedling session for best results.
The H6 offers adjustable needle depth ranging from 0.25mm to 2.5mm. For beginners or sensitive areas like around the eyes and forehead, start at 0.25–0.5mm. For thicker skin areas such as the cheeks and jawline, 0.5–1.5mm is generally appropriate. Depths above 1.5mm are typically reserved for experienced users targeting specific concerns on resilient areas.
The Dr.Pen H6 is compatible with H6-specific replacement cartridges. It does not share cartridges with other Dr.Pen models such as the A8S or M8S. Always use cartridges labeled for the H6 to ensure proper fit, safety, and optimal performance. Using incompatible cartridges may damage the device or cause uneven results.
For most users, using the H6 once every 2–4 weeks is recommended. Your skin needs adequate time to recover and rebuild between sessions. If you're using a shallower depth (under 0.5mm), you may be able to use it more frequently — every 1–2 weeks. Always allow any redness or sensitivity to fully resolve before your next session.
Sensation varies by individual and needle depth. At lower depths (0.25–0.5mm), most users feel a mild tingling. At deeper settings, some discomfort is possible. Applying a topical numbing cream 20–30 minutes before your session can significantly reduce sensitivity. Wipe the skin clean before starting to ensure the needles make proper contact and the area is hygienic.
Immediately after treatment, use hydrating and soothing serums such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, or growth factors — your skin's absorption is significantly enhanced post-session. Avoid active ingredients for 24–48 hours, including retinol, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, and benzoyl peroxide, as they can cause irritation on freshly treated skin. Always apply broad-spectrum SPF the following morning.
The H6 is not suitable for individuals with active acne breakouts, open wounds, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or any active skin infection in the treatment area. It should also be avoided by those who are pregnant, have a history of keloid scarring, are undergoing chemotherapy, or are taking blood-thinning medications. Consult a dermatologist or healthcare provider if you are unsure.
Each cartridge should be used only once and then discarded — never reuse a cartridge, even on yourself, as the needles dull quickly and reuse poses a contamination risk. Before your session, wipe the treatment area with 70% isopropyl alcohol. After use, carefully remove the cartridge and dispose of it in a safe sharps container. Store unused cartridges in their original sealed packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
