The M8 is a professional-grade wired pen that offers stable, consistent motor power ideal for extended sessions. The A6 and A8S are wireless cordless models offering more flexibility and freedom of movement. The M8 is generally preferred by users who prioritize consistent performance and don't mind being tethered to a power source, while the A8S appeals to those who want a portable, rechargeable option.
The Dr.Pen M8 features adjustable needle depth ranging from 0.25mm to 2.5mm, allowing you to customize treatment intensity based on the area of the face or body being treated. Shallower depths (0.25–0.5mm) are suitable for delicate areas like under the eyes, while deeper settings (1.0–2.5mm) are intended for thicker skin areas and should only be used by trained professionals.
The M8 is compatible with standard Dr.Pen cartridges, including 12-pin, 24-pin, 36-pin, 42-pin, Nano-R, and Nano-S tip types. Always use genuine Dr.Pen replacement cartridges to ensure proper fit, sterility, and consistent performance. Counterfeit or off-brand cartridges may not seal correctly and can compromise safety.
For most users, once every 3–4 weeks is the recommended frequency to allow your skin adequate time to complete its natural renewal cycle. Beginners should start with sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. Overuse can lead to prolonged redness or skin sensitivity, so always follow the guidance provided in the user manual and consult a skincare professional if unsure.
Sensation varies based on needle depth and individual pain tolerance. At shallow depths (0.25–0.5mm), most users experience only mild tingling. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream (applied 20–30 minutes before the session) can significantly reduce discomfort. Always follow the numbing cream manufacturer's instructions and ensure the skin is thoroughly cleaned before beginning your session.
Before treatment, cleanse your skin thoroughly and apply a hydrating serum such as hyaluronic acid to reduce friction and support glide. After your session, focus on calming and barrier-repair ingredients — hyaluronic acid, peptides, ceramides, and centella asiatica are all excellent options. Mild redness, slight swelling, and skin sensitivity are completely normal for 12–48 hours following a session — this is a sign that your skin's renewal process has been activated. Pinpoint bleeding may occur at deeper settings and is also expected. However, you should contact a healthcare professional if you experience prolonged redness lasting more than 72 hours, signs of infection (warmth, pus, increasing pain), or an allergic reaction to any products applied during or after treatment.
