The Dr.Pen A10 is designed to improve the appearance of a wide range of common skin concerns, including fine lines, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, stretch marks, and dullness. It can be used on the face, neck, décolleté, hands, and scalp — including for hair thinning. Results vary by individual and depend on consistent use, needle depth, and skincare routine.

The A10 runs at up to 15,000 RPM with 5 speed levels and a built-in 380mAh rechargeable battery — making it a solid mid-range wireless option. The M8S offers higher speed (up to 18,000 RPM) and 6 speed levels with a metal body, while the A8S also reaches 18,000 RPM and adds a removable battery system. If you're new to microneedling or want a lightweight everyday pen, the A10 is a great starting point. For more intensive sessions, consider stepping up to the M8S or A8S.

The A10 offers adjustable needle depth from 0 to 2.5mm. For sensitive areas and first-time users, start at 0.25–0.5mm. Fine lines and mild texture concerns typically respond well to 0.5–1.0mm. Deeper concerns such as acne scarring, enlarged pores, and significant texture irregularities may benefit from 1.0–2.0mm. For scalp use, 0.5–1.0mm is commonly recommended. Always start shallow and increase gradually — deeper is not always better.

The Dr.Pen A10 uses a bayonet 2-slot cartridge connector and is compatible with A10-series cartridges, including 12-pin, 24-pin, 36-pin, 42-pin, Nano-R, and Nano-S. The 12-pin cartridge (included in most kits) is suitable for general face use. Nano cartridges are ideal for delicate areas like around the eyes. Always use genuine Dr.Pen cartridges to ensure proper fit, needle quality, and hygiene.

Session frequency depends on the needle depth you're using. At shallow depths (0.25–0.5mm), you can use the pen 2–3 times per week. At medium depths (0.5–1.5mm), once every 2–4 weeks is typical to allow adequate skin recovery. At deeper settings (1.5–2.5mm), space sessions 4–6 weeks apart. Microneedling too frequently can impair healing and worsen skin tone. Listen to your skin and allow redness and sensitivity to fully resolve before your next session.

At low needle depths (under 0.5mm), most users experience only mild tingling or pressure — comparable to a gentle scratching sensation. Discomfort increases with depth. For sessions at 1.0mm or deeper, a topical numbing cream (such as one containing lidocaine) applied 20–30 minutes before treatment can significantly improve comfort. Always remove the numbing cream thoroughly before starting. The A10's high-speed vertical needling motion is designed to minimize trauma compared to derma rollers.

During and immediately after a session, use only gentle, non-irritating serums such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, or growth factor serums to support hydration and recovery. For at least 48–72 hours post-session, avoid retinol, vitamin C (ascorbic acid), exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs), niacinamide at high concentrations, and any active ingredients that may cause irritation on compromised skin. Also avoid makeup, SPF sprays with alcohol, and fragrance. Resume your full skincare routine once redness fully subsides.

The Dr.Pen A10 is not suitable for everyone. Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; have active acne breakouts, open wounds, cold sores, or skin infections in the treatment area; have rosacea or eczema in an active flare; have a history of keloid scarring; are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation; or have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood-thinning medications (including anti-inflammatory drugs, which should be paused at least 5 days before use). Always consult a healthcare provider if you have any underlying medical conditions.

Each cartridge is intended for single use only and must be replaced after every session. The micro-needles become dull after one use, reducing effectiveness and increasing the risk of skin damage from dragging rather than clean penetration. More importantly, used cartridges can harbor bacteria even after cleaning, creating a significant infection risk. Attempting to sterilize and reuse cartridges is not safe or recommended. Always attach a fresh, sealed cartridge at the start of each session.

Some redness, mild swelling, and skin sensitivity immediately after a session are completely normal and expected. These reactions typically subside within 12–48 hours depending on the depth used. A skin 'purge' — where temporary breakouts occur as congestion is brought to the surface — can also happen, especially in the first few sessions. This is a normal skin response and usually resolves on its own. However, if you experience prolonged redness beyond 72 hours, significant swelling, warmth, or signs of infection, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.
